About Us
From Farm to Pharmacy
Here, wellness flows from the source — from the rivers that wind through the jungle, the wisdom carried in our medicinal plants, and the hands of the makers who craft with love and intention. Our apothecary shelves are filled with organic bulk herbs, hand-blended teas, natural skincare, and high-quality supplements, alongside ritual tools and handmade goods from local and regional artisans. Each item tells a story — of tradition preserved, of land honored, of community supported.

“The big intention was to see how we can integrate ancient medicines
back into our everyday lives.”
Adriana Ayales
We honor the rainforest as a living pharmacy, a place where medicine has been tended for generations by indigenous healers and wisdom keepers. These traditions are not just practices — they are lifeways, rooted in reciprocity, ceremony, and deep relationship with the land. Guided by this reverence, we weave the teachings of rainforest medicine with other healing lineages from around the world, creating a space where ancient and contemporary knowledge can meet, respect one another, and flourish together.
Meet Our Founders
Adriana Ayales
RAINFOREST HERBALIST AND CO-FOUNDER Of BOTANICA
I am a herbalist, medicine maker, educator, and founder of Anima Mundi. I was born in Costa Rica and started Anima Mundi in Brooklyn with the intention of bridging ancient remedies with the modern world. My vision has always been to create a true farm-to-pharmacy experience — honoring the art of medicine-making with herbs.
My work draws from rainforest tribal traditions, Ayurveda, Chinese-Daoist medicine, and European alchemy, each one carrying a piece of the ancestral wisdom I aim to keep alive. Preserving these ancient forms of indigenous botany is, to me, a sacred act — a way to honor the source and keep our connection to the earth’s medicine strong.
Monica Mayer
ENTREPRENEUR AND CO-FOUNDER Of BOTANICA
I was born in Colombia and have called Costa Rica home for over two decades. Though I left to earn a master’s degree in environmental sciences, my studies — and my heart — always led me back to this land.
My mission is to create and share products that I love, that transform my life, and that help others elevate their vitality while deepening their relationship with nature. Every day, I commit to practices that bring me into harmony — with myself, my community, and the environment. My vision for Botánica is to hold space where people can feel grounded, free of anxiety, and in tune with the rhythms of the earth.
A Place of Gathering
Botanica is also a place of gathering — a hearth for knowledge, story, and connection. Our weekly classes and circles in herbalism, astrology, human design, and other healing arts are offered as a way to carry forward ancestral teachings, to share lived experience, and to tend the bonds that hold us as a community.
Whether you come to sip tea and learn the language of the plants, connect with a local maker, or simply rest in the embrace of the jungle, Botanica is a place to root yourself in the beauty of this land and the medicine it offers.
